I served in the unit when it was formed at Ft Sill to go to Viet Nam. I was at Dong Ha for the start. I was transferred to a unit that just arrived in the Central Highlands in March.

I REMENBER NAMES LIKE. ANDY SALMERI, KENNY FIELDS, GORDON GARY GUNTHER, SLICE, SGT.DEEDAM, SGT COREY. WE WERE ON A GUN CALLED "DON'T CUSS CALL US". WE HAD GOOD TIMES & BAD TIMES. WE ALL CAME BACK IN ONE PIECE.

Places of interest: LZ Sally, Ashau Valley, Camp Blaze, Cua Viet. I remember Bauer,Wagner,Guadalupe Ramos & a corporal on our gun. Reassigned to Btry C, 8th Bn,4th Arty at Con Thien.

I was with 1/40 from the start at Ft. Sill. Then it was Oakland Army Terminal and the USS General LeRoy Eltinge to Da Nang. Assigned to 3rd MAF and attached to 3rd Marine Div with OpCon to 12th Regiment. Then convoy to Dong Ha via Hue/Phu Bai. Operated in Quang Tri City, Cam Lo, Camp JJ Carrol, The Rockpile and up Highway 1 between Dong Ha and Gia Linh and Con Thien. Spent last few months as Bn FDO. Was there when we were building the Dong Ha base. DEROSed shortly after the DIV ASP went up at Dong Ha. Returned for a second tour with 1/11 of the 9th Div in the delta.
