I served with HHB 108th Arty from 5/67 (Fort Riley, Kansas when it
was reactivated) to 4/68 when I was rotated to Pleiku, 6/29th Arty.
My time in country with the 108th was from 10/67 to 4/68. This was the only
arty outfit I knew of that had more officers than enlisted personnel. We
directed fire for I Corps.

I found this sit while doing some research for a marine in our VFW club. I see a few names I recognize and will respond personally. I don't have many pictures because everything I owned got blown up in a M548 while pulling out of the Laos Mess. I welcome all Contacts. This is a Great Site. It has brought back many memories and names that I had forgotten long ago.

I was the second individual assigned to the Bn at Fort Sill following LTC Richard G. Trefrey, the Bn CO.I remained as the S2 for the Bn until 30 October 67. Some wonderful friends were formed and lots of memories and war stories. Hope to attend the reunion and will bring lots of pictures. I still have the taped radio report of General Alford Gray, USMC who was a Major,I believe the S3 for the 3rd_9th Marine Regiment during the initial attack at Gio Lynn.

Was in the Laos fiasco, until we finally beat feet out of there. Then on firebase Bastogne, where we had to build the emergency shitters 'cause of bad water. Does any of this sound familiar? If you were there, drop me a line,I have some pictures of people and things. Names go away so quickly. Peace

My base camp was Dong Ha from Apr67-Apr68. I was in Dong Ha when the gooks blew up the airport with one God Damn rocket. The whole thing blew up. Ammo, food, jp, diesel, gas & people. The Flyboys lived there at the airport. What blew our minds was that we usually got hit with about three hundred rounds of 122 rockets and 152 artillary almost every day and they got the whole works with one lucky shot. It looked like an atomic bomb going off. I was in 1/44 automatic weapons self propelled-dusters and quads. I was in commo.

I served with C battery, 2/94 108th group from 2/69 - 2/70. Although I was trained at Ft. Sill as a cannon cocker, Lt. Henderson, the battery XO, assigned me to FDC when I came in-country. The battery was then based at LZ Nancy, and shortly thereafter we moved to  C-1 for several weeks, and then back to Nancy for the balance of my tour (aside from a brief stay at FB Anne). I was the FDC computer operator and made E-5 by the time I left country.
