Modern Times

This song is partly based on a colleague with some of myself worked in.  Old time cowboys did what they wanted to and had to, with a restlessness of spirit that lives on today.

Modern Times

He was born back in the forties,

Many years behind his lonesome soul

He drives a white Ramcharger,

Worked a hundred jobs

And now teachin's gettin' old

He team ropes on the weekends,

Works the farm on the weekends

And dreams of a place, that someday he will go

Bobby rides tall in the saddle

And he walks that extra mile

In his heart he's a cowboy

Ridin' modern times, with a tight rein and a smile

Whatever happened to Tex Ritter

Woody Guthrie, Patsy Cline and all the rest

Open range by the fire

Starry heavens, where a man is at his best

Findin' freedom in the mountains

Peace of mind at sunset

Just a cowboy always searchin'

A modern cowboy, livin' the old west

Bobby rides tall in the saddle

And he walks that extra mile

In his heart he's with them

Ridin' modern times, with a tight rein and a smile
