Walls Around Me

Copyright 1995 - Will Pete

Same old, same old, many times I've been in that rut, spiraling in, spiraling out, going nowhere and accomplishing nothing new. The key to my prisons is writing and singing. If that's another prison, at least its an ever changing one, a prison of feeling free.

I LOOK AT THE FOUR WALLS AROUND ME

I BREATHE THE SWEET FRAGRANCE OF THE FIELDS

I STAND ON LEGS THAT ARE WEARY

THE DOORS AND THE BARS NEVER YIELD

I FEEL A STRANGE TINGLE SURROUND ME

THE WALLS FADE AWAY AND I RISE

FROM THIS PLACE I WILL LEAVE, WHAT CAN STOP ME

TEARDROPS FALL FREELY FROM MY EYES

I SEARCH AND I SEARCH WHERE IS FREEDOM

WILL I EVER, EVER KNOW WHY

WHAT IS LIFE WHO AM I, WHAT'S THE REASON

I SIT AND LET FOREVER GO BY

FOUR MORE WALLS HAVE I BUILT ALL AROUND ME

I BREATHE THE SWEET FRAGRANCE OF THE FIELDS

I STAND ON LEGS THAT ARE WEARY

TELL ME WHY DO I FORGE THESE BARS OF STEEL
