My father,died 2003, served with the 101st Airborne Division, 321st Glider Fa Bn during WWII. All records lost in 1973 St. Louis fire. He NEVER spoke of his service but the few mementos my mom has are impressive. I know he came ashore at Normandy on LCT Susan B. Anthony(sunk by mine), jumped into Holland(Market Garden) and fought in the Ardennes region, Bastogne and Bulge,Rhineland, all the way to Hitler's Eagle's Nest. I and my sons are very interested in any info on his battalion at that time.

in Charlotte. Every day is a gift, but I still deal with memories that are a

I am trying to find someone that will co-oberate an event that still triggers terrible night-mares for me. An area around Pleiku was being cleared to set up the 155's and twin 40's and quad 50's were being used to clear the area of brush and possible VC. Did many battery signs, cut hair, burned many a shitter, built chairs, shelves, got into a few fist fights, stood many a gun watch, op, etc. Laughed my butt off when old "Big head Chapman" burned all the hairs off Sgt Garrison's ass while trying to burn shitters with gasoline. Was there when Gunny Caesar rescued the comm corporal from a burning PC loaded with excess powder bags. Damned near shit my britches when Sgt Williams forgot to put a quadrant on his Gun 2 while executing an action left, and almost shot a 155mm round throgh the back of Sgt Hendrix's Gun 4. Was there to apply a battle dressing on Corporal Bacon, but got run off by the SSgt in charge of crater analysis.

Served as acting S-5, S-2, and S-1 at Camp Carroll and LZ Nancy. Was with Captain Clark when he lit a lighter at the bottom of the Command bunker that we had just doused with gasoline. The explosion blew him out stairwell and down range! He landed in the red Monsoon muck face down, uninjured, except for burnt eyebrows and eye lashes. His jungle hat was singed and airborne wings were recovered further down range.

I was trucked in to FB Nancy the day after it was hit.Gooks were piled at the gate like cordwood.After reinforcements of Quad 50s and dusters we were not hit again the 11 months I was there. I was one of the cooks assigned to HHQ group.Any more noncombat spoons out there?

I got to Red Beach with 155 SP about Feb 1969 and when we got the 175's I went to An Hoa with the guns. Stayed in An Hoa until Sept. 1969 when discharged. Helped build the wire etc at the end of the runway after we separated from the 8 inch guys at the other end. Was in FDC.

I was sent to Nancy to replace arty surveyors lost on April 13th. I became the MR clerk and finance clerk. I also did statistical work for the personnel section and was liaison to XXIV Corps for MACV and finance. From Nancy, I often traveled to "A" and "C" Btrys., Quan Tri, Dong Ha, Da Nang and Phu Bai.

Started out wih 155 in Danang switched to 175 did some time in An Hoa I put the berm around the camp stayed there a short time went back to Danang then on to LZ Ross was amoung the first few to arrive there form our unit
